Westcoast Windows were pleased to provide their Classic system composite windows for the refurbishment of the YMCA building in Ealing, West London, working with main contractors Rydon Refurbishment on a phased replacement over a two year period from 2013 to 2015.
The YMCA in Ealing is a busy sheltered housing facility that received a refurbishment, remodelling and new build programme to modernise and extend the building and the services it provides to young people in need.
The extensive programme provides 115 rooms, including en-suite, studio and one-bedroom accommodation, along with communal kitchens, lounge, café, offices and an activities studio. An extension was created to accommodate a glazed atrium, housing a new and enlarged reception area and a larger nursery facility.
Westcoast Windows provided Classic system composite windows – a combination of their popular TSG180 (top hung reversible window) and FKG (fixed light window) units, including solar control glass to the south facing elevation. Commercial aluminium doors were also supplied as part of the refurbishment.
Paul Smith, Contracts Manager at Rydon commented: “Rydon were happy to have Westcoast Windows as part of our supply chain. As well as providing a high quality product, their installers were reliable and safe, helping Rydon deliver this scheme with demanding construction programme, and with minimal defects.”
For multi-storey buildings where cleaning and/or reglazing is to be carried out internally.
TThe concealed projecting reversible hinge allows the sash to be fully reversed with all the action externally so the operation of the sash never interferes with curtains, blinds or internal fitments.
The easy glide mechanism incorporates integral safety restrictors which automatically engage when opening and when in the fully reversed cleaning position. Concealed multipoint espagnolette locking provides superior closing tightness for weatherproofing and acoustic attenuation and offers a secure night ventilation position.
