Westcoast Windows were pleased to supply and fit their composite windows and doors for the prestigious development of Whisstocks Boatyard at Deben Wharf, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
The once derelict site of the old boatyard has been transformed into an exceptional mixed use development, designed for the modern age with well specified homes and commercial spaces within the contemporary waterfront.
The development consists of fifteen high quality apartments overlooking the harbour, along with a purpose-built riverside bar and restaurant in The Chandlery building. The properties have been designed to reflect the area’s historic architecture and maritime heritage and the distinctive homes feature spacious, well planned accommodation with a high specification, providing 21st century comforts.
Westcoast Windows provided a design, manufacture, supply and installation service of their composite windows and doors for this development.
The project was specified with our Classic Series double-glazed composite windows and doors with the low maintenance aluminium exterior powder-coated in the stylish slate grey RAL 7012 finish. The warm wood interior was finished in clear lacquer to retain the natural characteristics of the timber. The elevation overlooking the heritage boat shed that will house the Sutton Hoo Anglo Saxon ship was fitted with Design Series triple-glazed composite windows with the highest acoustic rating for additional sound-proofing.
Deben Wharf at Whisstocks won the 2018 RIBA Suffolk Craftsmanship award for buildings which show excellent attention to quality craftsmanship throughout and is voted on by a panel of experts from across a range of specialisms within construction.
Westcoast Windows also worked with architects Feilden+Mawson and contractors RG Carter on this unique project. Paul Weston, who was the planning approval architect for the project and Project Manager for the construction stage, commented on Westcoast Windows “your product is excellent”.
For multi-storey buildings where cleaning and/or reglazing is to be carried out internally.
The concealed projecting reversible hinge allows the sash to be fully reversed with all the action externally so the operation of the sash never interferes with curtains, blinds or internal fitments.
The easy glide mechanism incorporates integral safety restrictors which automatically engage when opening and when in the fully reversed cleaning position. Concealed multipoint espagnolette locking provides superior closing tightness for weatherproofing and acoustic attenuation and offers a secure night ventilation position.
For residential access purposes at ground floor terrace or upper floor level balcony locations where doors are to be secured from within the building.
Single leaf doors (SHID) are secured by a concealed multipoint locking espagnolette bolt mechanism incorporating an integral handle operated friction stay with variable limiting up to 90°. In the case of pairs of doors (SHIDD) the slave leaf is secured by espagnolette activated flush bolts.
