Andrew and James take to their cycles for the Dunwich Dynamo 200km night ride

Westcoast Windows’ Managing Director, Andrew Mills, and Trade Sales Manager, James Bailey, are avid cyclists and on Saturday 28th July took part in the Dunwich Dynamo.

The Dunwich Dynamo is a 200km night ride from London to the lost city of Dunwich on The Suffolk Coast. The event has been running since 1992 and is now a free traditional event enjoyed by thousands of riders, setting off from London Fields in Hackney at about 9pm on the Saturday evening closest to the full moon in July. From there the riders head towards the coast along a route through Epping Forest, Great Dunmow, Finchingfield, Sudbury, Needham Market and Framlingham before arriving at the beach. Some riders arrive to watch the sunrise whilst other more social riders arrive later on in the morning. Along the route there are plenty of pubs and pop up stalls offering sustenance.

This year Andrew and James joined the 2,500 riders for the largely moonlit event. The recent rain had thankfully cooled the warmer summer temperatures to make for pleasant cycling, with plenty of stop offs to rehydrate and replenish energy, and a final early morning arrival at a sunny Dunwich beach. Many of the triumphant riders also made the return ride with others catching the bus (and cycle lorries) back to London, supplied by Southwark Cyclists.

Perhaps next year we can boost the Westcoast Windows’ contingent with more willing participants?!
