Focus on… Westcoast Windows for office conversions into residential properties
Changes to permitted development rights for office conversions into residential use were originally brought in as a temporary trial by the government in 2013 as a way to utilise redundant commercial office space and go part of the way to resolve Britain’s housing shortage. This change has now become a permanent amendment, and as a result we have seen the rise in commercial office space being converted into residential apartments and flats.
Since 2015, a total of 54,000 homes have been created from old office blocks through permitted development rights, amounting to 6 per cent of all new homes created nationally.
Westcoast Windows composite windows are ideal for this type of development, available in double or triple-glazing, with acoustic attenuation for high traffic areas, an aluminium exterior finish and with an option of self-cleaning glass, make them the ideal low maintenance, energy saving glazing solution.
The composite windows have a true unique bonded aluminium and timber composite construction, designed and manufactured with the highest quality materials to withstand all weather conditions for a superior lifespan and minimum maintenance. The aluminium exterior is powder-coated in a wide range of standard RAL colours or bespoke to your design. The internal warm wood can be finished in a clear lacquer or stained or painted to suit the interior design.
