Westcoast Windows supply Swedish composite windows and doors for the new Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice building
The Ark is the new children’s hospice building for North and Central London or Hertsmere. It will enable Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice to reach more of the 1,200 babies and children in their catchment area who need their services.
Situated on a 7.5 acre nature reserve, The Ark will provide a space for relaxation and adventure, whilst enabling children and their families to connect with others facing similar challenges. It will offer a range of children’s palliative care services not currently available in North London, with dedicated suites, sensory, music and art rooms, plus specially designed gardens and surroundings.
Westcoast Windows were pleased to be approached by contractor 8build to provide the aluminium timber composite windows and doors for the build, also working with prestigious award winning architects, Squire & Partners on the project.
The Ark build began in early October 2017 and was officially opened on 27th September 2019. The great and the good of the construction industry have come together to support the charity in helping to build including JLL UK, Pears Property, Sellar Property, Erith Demolition, 8build and Squire & Partners.
The building was specified with 566m2 of Westcoast Windows triple-glazed Design Series – ideal for contemporary architecture offering a deeper glass unit and minimal step between outer glass and frame for maximum light. The specification has also included some consideration for solar control, fresh air intake louvres at the head of the window frames and three main entrance screens with automatic sliding doors.
The window and door fitting was provided by Westcoast Windows’ approved installers, Kingston Joinery, who worked with the project team to ensure the fitting was scheduled at the necessary intervals to align with the project timeline. Alongside the window installation they also installed timber cladding to the window panels.
