Westcoast Windows is pleased to be supplying composite windows for Trehus, a sustainable landmark office building at the gateway to Maidenhead town centre.

Trehus will be the first mass timber office building of its kind in the South East, offering 65,000 sq ft (5,730 m²) of Grade A office space with outstanding sustainability credentials. The scheme forms part of the wider One Maidenhead masterplan, led by HUB and delivered by Glencar, with development by Smedvig and HUB Residential acting as development manager.

Designed with occupant health and wellbeing in mind

The name Trehus – Norwegian for House of Wood – reflects the building’s pioneering timber frame construction. This approach will reduce embodied carbon by approximately 40% compared to a traditional steel-framed structure, supporting the project’s ambitious environmental targets, including net zero carbon, BREEAM Outstanding, and FITWEL 3★ certification. The building is designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects and is intended to be an office built to last. Designed with occupant health and wellbeing in mind, the building makes extensive use of natural materials and daylight, creating a distinctive and high-quality working environment.

Set within a newly landscaped public square, Trehus combines a natural stone façade, biodiverse landscaping, and excellent transport connectivity to create a workplace that contributes positively to Maidenhead’s streetscape.

Full-height, five-storey glazing maximises daylight

The five-storey, south-facing building features full-height glazing on all façades. With no immediately adjacent buildings, the design maximises cross-ventilation and daylight, while window sizes have been parametrically designed to achieve the optimum balance between daylight performance and solar gain. Amenities include co-working areas, cycle storage and showers, a roof terrace, event space, a public square garden, and potential for a ground-floor café.

Triple-glazed Swedish composite windows proven to perform in demanding climates

Westcoast Windows is supplying 925m2 of Design high-performance composite windows, finished in RAL 7006 Beige Grey, supporting the building’s environmental goals while delivering durability, thermal performance, and long-term reliability – qualities proven in demanding Scandinavian climates.
