Community-Led Design with Scandinavian Performance from Westcoast Windows
Westcoast Windows was pleased to supply Swedish composite windows for the award-winning Highgate Newtown Community Centre development in Camden, London.
Designed by RCKa for Camden Council, the project transformed a challenging urban site into a vibrant community destination, combining a new community centre, public square, sports facilities and 41 affordable homes.
The development was shaped through extensive consultation with local residents and stakeholders, creating a scheme that strengthens neighbourhood connections and delivers long-term social value.
At the heart of the project is a new public courtyard and pedestrian route that reconnects previously separated communities while providing welcoming access to community services and homes.
The development demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can enhance both place and wellbeing, creating a lasting asset for the local area.

High-quality, energy-efficient homes
The residential buildings frame the new public space, providing high-quality, energy-efficient homes designed to maximise natural daylight, privacy and comfort.
Generous glazing plays an important role throughout the scheme, helping to create bright internal spaces while contributing to the building’s contemporary architectural character.

Composite windows for this landmark project
For this landmark project, working with main contractor Farrans and architects RCKa, Westcoast Windows supplied 800m2 double-glazed Swedish designed and manufactured composite windows and sliding doors, engineered to withstand demanding Scandinavian climates.
Combining exceptional thermal performance, durability and minimal maintenance requirements, the windows support the development’s long-term sustainability goals while complementing its refined architectural design.
The low maintenance aluminium exterior was finished in RAL Ivory to complement the exterior style, and the warm wood interior contemporary white.
