WESTCOAST SWEDISH ALUMINIUM WOOD COMPOSITE WINDOWS WERE IDEAL FOR THE DOUBLE-HEIGHT GLAZING IN THIS AGRICULTURAL-INSPIRED FAMILY HOME
When the clients obtained the site of their new home, there was just an old 1970s bungalow on the site. Furthermore it had agricultural restrictions. As a property surveyor with an architect son, the owner had greater aspirations.
They managed to get the agricultural restrictions lifted, but the planning officers were keen to retain some kind of agricultural style building on the site. The architect designed a large family home in the style of an old brick barn, with carefully selected materials, such as the heritage style red brick, weatherboard, pan tiles and zinc roofing.
THE BARN-STYLE HOME BENEFITS FROM NATURAL LIGHT FROM THE DOUBLE-HEIGHT COMPOSITE WINDOWS
The four-bedroomed property consists of a large two-story rectangular barn-style building, with high pitched roof and double-height glazing to the entrance hall and gable ends. Adjacent to the main building is a single-story extension housing the utility room and games den. The build took three years to complete and provides the couple with a light, airy home with plenty of space for visiting friends and family.
The Westcoast bespoke Swedish composite windows, doors and sliding doors were supplied and fitted by approved distributor Aluminium Clad Windows, based in Pulham Market. The client chose the 48mm triple-glazed Design series, which achieves an overall average U-value of 0.94m2K for excellent energy efficiency.
The powder-coated aluminium exterior of the windows is finished in RAL 7042 70% Traffic Grey, which contrasts beautifully with the red brick and complements the zinc roofing. The weatherboard was coloured to match as close as possible.
The internal wood of the composite windows is finished in clear lacquered pine, for a traditional, authentic warm feel indoors.
The property was fitted with the popular Top Hung Reversible Window (TSG180), Fixed Lights (FKG), Single Terrace/Patio Doors (SHID) and Lift & Slide sliding doors (SDA).
“We’re really happy with the windows. They really do help to keep the cold out in the winter. Rob and his team did a fantastic job, we couldn’t be happier.”
