Developing Inspiring Learning Environments with Swedish Performance from Westcoast Windows

Westcoast Windows was proud to supply and install high-performance Swedish composite windows for the new Heathside School development in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Delivered by BAM Construction for the Department for Education, the project provides a modern secondary school designed to accommodate up to 900 pupils aged 11 to 16. The campus was carefully planned to create an engaging and flexible learning environment, supporting both academic achievement and student wellbeing.

Natural daylight and thermal comfort

The development comprises two interconnected three-storey teaching blocks alongside a dedicated sports hall.

Specialist facilities include science laboratories, a library, drama and performance spaces, sports facilities and a range of modern teaching environments designed to support a broad curriculum.

Natural daylight and thermal comfort were key considerations throughout the design. To support these objectives, Westcoast Windows supplied and installed 1,365m² of Swedish-designed and manufactured double-glazed aluminium timber composite windows. The extensive glazing helps create bright, welcoming learning spaces while contributing to the building’s energy efficiency and long-term sustainability.

The composite windows deliver exceptional thermal performance

Designed and manufactured in Sweden to withstand demanding Scandinavian climates, the windows combine a durable powder-coated aluminium exterior in RAL 7015 Slate Grey with a contemporary white timber interior finish.

A combination of fixed lights, top-hung projecting windows and reversible windows was specified throughout the development to meet the project’s ventilation, maintenance and operational requirements.

The composite windows deliver exceptional thermal performance, durability and low maintenance, making them ideally suited to high-use education environments where long-term value is essential.
